Favorite (Pop) Halloween Music Vids

10.   Shakira “She Wolf”

A-woooo!  This video could have been a lot scarier.  Although I guess she’s scary-flexible so that counts.  Everyone knows I prefer the T-Pain remix though.

9.  Ne-Yo “Beautiful Monster”

All of Ne-Yo’s videos from Libra Scale follow a story line that runs throughout the album.  This may or may not explain why he’s drunkenly staggering in the beginning, why he can use the Force (?) during the fight/dance-off, and why his cyborg love doesn’t succumb to his suave advances.  I love this song but the vid makes little to no sense.

8.  Kid Cudi “No One Believes Me”

This video makes me really anxious and sad. That said, Kid Cudi makes an attractive vamp.

7. Timbaland ft. Nelly Furtado, SoShy “Morning After Dark”

Worth it for Timba’s facial expressions.  Those of us who remember the original, uncut version (can’t find a link to it right now) can appreciate how much MORE ridic (better?) this vid was before most of the dialogue/backstory was cut.  I will just say there was an ancient Roman vampire feud culminating in a bizarre stand off involving an American study abroad student.  Also Nelly and SoShy are both super gorge.

6. Beyoncé “Sweet Dreams”

Beyoncé cops Rihanna’s style (visually AND musically) but it’s still hot, especially the first part.

5.  Backstreet Boys “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”

So this is pretty magical.  Love Nick trying to sex up the mummy role and my boy Kevin keepin it classy/boring as Jekyll/Hyde.  Howie really shines for the first and only time during their career (IMO).  I was never clear on why being a werewolf made Brian able to do backflips but, why question it?

4. Chris Brown “Wall to Wall”

The first of his straight up Michael Jackson tribute videos, but it wouldn’t be the last.  Let the record stand that Breezy did vampires in ‘07.  Way ahead of the curve.  The song is not one of his best but the dance break is solid.

3.  Kanye West ft. Mr. Hudson “Paranoid”

I’ve always liked this vid.  It’s very simple and Rihanna is incredible.

2.  Rihanna “Disturbia”

Speaking of Rihanna…Ohhh the memories.  This video seriously does not get enough credit.  It blew everything else out of the water in ‘08.  Rihanna was kissing taxidermied wolves before Gaga had even donned her first pair of McQueen stilettos.  This video is also responsible for my repeated attempts to pull out the “sexy zombie” dance at various parties, but don’t hold that against it.  True Halloween classic.

1.  Michael Jackson “Thriller”

Well…obvi.  There’s a reason it’s referenced in almost every single entry on this list.

Oh my god.

Oh my god.

Yes.

Yes.

Well now that I’m in grad school I guess it’s time to bring back the Rihanna screen shot series.
